According to a Disney+ Hotstar statement made on Wednesday, Nayanthara’s forthcoming Tamil thriller Netrikann would skip theatres and be released directly on demand. Due to the pandemic, the film was scheduled to be released last year but was postponed.
Netrikann, Nayanthara’s long-awaited film directed by Milind Rau, is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar. Vignesh Shivan’s film will soon be available on the OTT platform.
The film is expected to be a remake of the Korean thriller Blind, which follows a blind lady who offers testimony in a hit-and-run case and is subsequently forced to confront the perpetrator on her own.
The news was made via a tweet from Disney+ Hotstar. The debut date, on the other hand, has yet to be announced.
After a car accident, Nayanthara plays a character who loses her vision. Ajmal Ameer plays the antagonist in the film.
Nayanthara will be releasing her second straight direct-to-OTT film. Her most recent film, the social satire Mookuthi Amman, was likewise published straight on Disney+ Hotstar, bypassing theatres.
Vignesh Shivn, Nayanthara’s lover, makes his directorial debut with the film. Under the name of Rowdy Pictures, he is financing the film. Vignesh was overjoyed with the positive response to the poster after it was released last year.
