Neetu Kapoor once revealed how co-actor Amitabh Bachchan came to her rescue when she was upset on the sets of the film Yarana. The film featured Amitabh Bachchan in the superhit song, Sara Zamana Haseeno Ka Deewana, where he wore the iconic, bulb-studded leather jacket.
The song was shot in Kolkata, and it featured Amitabh Bachchan and Neetu. At the time, she was newly engaged to her partner Rishi Kapoor and didn’t want to spend time away from him. Recalling the incident Neetu said, “I remember we were in Calcutta shooting for that stage song in a stadium (Yaarana). We were sitting together, and I was crying, tears rolling down my cheeks. I had just got engaged and I didn’t want to be away from Chintu (Rishi Kapoor). The phones in Calcutta weren’t working. And Chintu was upset that he couldn’t get through to me.”
She further said that her co-actor Amitabh Bachchan asked her the reason for her crying to which she told him that she is missing Rishi Kapoor and wanted to go back to Mumbai. Amitabh confidently replied that she will and asked the producer to book a ticket for her. He also assured the producer that they will be able to manage the song without her. “They did. You will notice I am there for half the song and then I disappear,” she added.
In the coming years, Neetu Kapoor shifted her focus from films to her married life with Rishi Kapoor. Rishi Kapoor continued doing films and collaborated with Amitabh Bachchan on several projects. Their last film together was 102 Not Out.
