NIA Delhi Sentences One ISIS Terrorist To 7 Years Rigorous Imprisonment


NIA Special Court of New Delhi has sentenced one ISIS Terrorist to 7 years of rigorous imprisonment. The accused is named Shajahan VK of Kannur Kerala has been fined Rs. 73.000 for the offenses punishable under section 120B, 125,419,467,468 of IPC under sections 18, 38, &39 UA Act.

The case was initially registered at PS Special Cell, New Delhi in September 2017 under 4 sections of the Indian Penal Code of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. After the FIR was launched, the accused was arrested at IGI Airport, New Delhi on deportation by the Turkish authorities.

Another accused named Mustafa was also arrested from Chennai on the 12th of the same month. Subsequently, the NIA took over the investigation of the case. Shajahan is a member of an international terrorist organization ISIS. In 2016 he went to Turkey along with his family with an intention to go to Syria to fight on behalf of ISIS.

But during the travel, he was deported back to India in 2017 February. But he forged his document to travel to Turkey and eventually was apprehended again and got arrested. Thereafter NIA filed a charge sheet against the two in December 2017. NIA stated that the trial against the other accused is still in continuation.
