Today, Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi yet again lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah over the Pegasus controversy. He alleged that both PM Modi and Shah had used the Pegasus spyware against India and its institutions. “The only word for this is treason,” he said.
Addressing the reporters at Vijay Chowk, he demanded the resignation of the home minister. He also demanded a Supreme Court-monitored probe into the matter. “A judicial inquiry monitored by the Supreme Court should be conducted and the home minister must resign,” he added.
Rahul asked, “We have a simple demand – there should be a judicial inquiry under the supervision of the SC so that the country knows that this sedition was done on who’s behest – PM or HM?”
Furthermore, he claimed that his phone was tapped and such behavior indicates an attack on ‘voices of the people. “It’s not a matter of Rahul Gandhi’s privacy. I’m an Opposition leader, I raise the voices of people. This is an attack on voices of the people,” he said.
Pegasus is classified by the Israeli state as a weapon that is used against terrorists. Referring to this, he said both PM and HM had used this weapon against the Indian state and institutions. He claimed that it was also used in Karnataka politically.
