Today, the Twitter account of the actress Kangana Ranaut has been ‘permanently suspended’. The action has been taken after the Queen actress posted a series of tweets regarding the assembly election results of West Bengal.
Taking to her Twitter account, the actress had posted a range of annoying tweets and commented on the victory of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) Supremo Mamata Banerjee. She had passed harsh comments regarding Banerjee for winning the third consecutive term in West Bengal.
Addressing the issue, an official of Twitter mentioned that the company had previously outlined that strong action will be enforced on such behavior that has the potential to lead to offline harm. “Kangana’s account has been permanently suspended for repeated violations of Twitter Rules specifically our Hateful Conduct Policy and Abusive Behaviour Policy,” the official said. Adding to this, the company also highlighted that the rules laid down by the company are judiciously and impartially applicable for all.
However, this is not the first time she is facing this issue. Previously, a few restrictions were imposed on her account after she posted an incendiary tweet against Amazon Prime Video series Tandav.
Regarding her tweet, the official had cited that it was in violation of the platform’s Abusive Behaviour Policy, which prohibits ‘targeted harassment of someone, or (inciting) other people to do so’.
