Today, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi inaugurated the 709 MW Solar Power Project of NLCIL and 1000 MW Neyveli New Thermal Power Project in Tamil Nadu. The PM stated that the indigenously developed solar power project has witnessed an investment of Rs 3,000 crore and the 1,000 MW thermal power project constructed at a cost of Rs 7,800 crore will be massively useful to Tamil Nadu. He added that over 65% of the power generated will be given to the state.
PM Modi laid the foundation stone for a 5MW grid-connected ground-based solar power plant’s design, supply, installation, and commission. The power plant is at V.O.Chidambaranar Port. Also, the Lower Bhavani Project System’s extension, renovation, and modernization were included.
The PM also laid the foundation stone for Integrated Command and Control Centers’ (ICCC) development in nine Smart Cities, which are Coimbatore, Vellore, Salem, Madurai, Thanjavur, Tiruppur, Tiruchirappalli, Thoothukudi, and Tirunelveli.
The 8-laning of Korampallam Bridge and V.O.Chidambaranar Port’s Rail Over Bridge (ROB) and the tenements constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) scheme was inaugurated by PM Modi.
While addressing the event, the PM described Coimbatore as a city of industry and innovation and said that the development works which have been launched today will benefit Coimbatore and the entire Tamil Nadu.
As per the PM, the Bhavani Sagar Dam’s modernization will irrigate over 2 lakh acres of land and from this project, farmers of multiple districts will be benefited. Praising Tamil Nadu for making a significant contribution towards the industrial growth of India, the PM stated that he is very happy to inaugurate multiple significant power projects, as in the case of industrial growth, the continuous power supply is one of the basic needs.
Launching multiple projects of V.O. Chidambaranar Port, Thoothukudi, PM Modi said that further, these ports will contribute India to become Aatmnirbhar and a global hub for trade as well as logistics. On the occasion, the Governor, Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and Union Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi were present.
