On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to freedom fighter Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary. He expressed that the freedom fighter lives in the heart of every Indian.

Remembering Bhagat Singh’s sacrifice and noble deeds for the country, he wrote on Twitter, “The brave Bhagat Singh lives in the heart of every Indian. His courageous sacrifice ignited the spark of patriotism among countless people. I bow to him on his Jayanti and recall his noble deeds.”

Bhagat Singh was born to a Sikh family on September 27, 1907, in Lyallpur district which now belongs to Pakistan. In 1931, at the age of 23, he was executed by the British. His idealism together with his sacrifice made him a folk hero and an inspiration for thousands.
