Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that 130 crore Indians’ aspirations push the government to move faster, while virtually addressing the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM)’s Technology and Leadership Forum (NTLF).
Noting the IT industry, the PM said that looking at the technological global image of India, today the whole world pins its hopes and aspirations on this industry. “You’ve ensured that our technology becomes as indigenous as possible. Your solutions, too, should now have a Make For India mark,” Modi added while addressing the IT industry.
PM Modi motivated with his words and said that during the pandemic, the Science and Technology of India not only proved its efficiency but also evolved greatly. He outlined, “We should not think ourselves weak and we are an inspiration to the entire world.”
Praising the contribution of the IT sector during the COVID-19 pandemic, Modi said that there was a time when India was dependent on other countries for smallpox vaccines, but now the nation is providing other countries ‘Made in India’ Covid vaccines. He also stated that due to the pandemic, every sector was affected, but the IT sector has achieved a 2% growth. “It’s commendable if India’s IT industry adds 4 billion dollars to its revenue at a time when suspicions of de-growth were being cast,” he added.
The PM further stated that to make India a hub for global digital products, National Digital Communication Policy is an attempt for that.
