Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will take part in an Indian-Seychelles High-Level virtual event to inaugurate a series of Indian Projects in Seychelles. The event will be held on April 8, 2021, and would be jointly partaken by the President of the Republic of Seychelles H.E. Wavel Ramkalawan.
The event will begin with a joint e-inauguration of the new Magistrates’ Court Building in Seychelles capital city Victoria. The building, built with grant assistance. It will be India’s first major infrastructural project in that country. The building, built with the state of art facilities will aim at ramping up Seychelles judicial system to enable better delivery of judicial services to the citizens of Seychelles.
India will hand over a 50-m Fast Patrol Vessel, a modern and fully equipped naval ship to the Seychelles coast guard under Indian Grants Assistance. The vessel is manufactured in India by M/s GRSE, Kolkata, and aims at improving Seychelles maritime surveillance capacities.
India, further, will hand over a 1 Megawatt ground-mounted Solar Power Plant situated at the Romainville island of Seychelles. The plant is a part of the ‘Solar PV Democratization Project’ and is being implemented under grant assistance in Seychelles by the Government of India.
The event will conclude with India handing over 10 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) to them. These projects have been implemented by the High Commission of India in collaboration with local bodies, educational and vocational institutions.
Indian Prime Minister’s vision of ‘SAGAR’ – ‘Security and Growth for All in the Region’ holds a central space for Seychelles. The event aims to demonstrate India’s capacity as a trusted partner for Seychelles in fulfilling its infrastructural, developmental and security requirements. The event will bear testimony to the friendship of Seychelles and India.
