New Delhi: Today, Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi welcomes the approval of the National Education Policy 2020 which was a prolonged reform in the education sector. He hopes NEP will transform millions of lives in the coming future that is based on concrete pillars includes Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability and Accountability.
PM Modi highlighted that aspects like widening the availability of scholarships, strengthening open and distance learning, online education, and increased usage of technology have key roles in the NEP. Also, NEP2020 focused on the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ that promotes Indian languages, including Sanskrit. Apparently, foreign languages are also given space in secondary level along with giving standardization to Indian Sign Language (ISL) across India.
Addressing it an era of knowledge, PM Modi signifies that learning, research, and innovation are vital and through NEP, India will become a vibrant knowledge hub. He mentioned some of the significance of NEP that includes universal access to school education, better infrastructure, pioneering education centers for dropouts, multifaceted learning approaches, etc.
The basic 10+2 structure will be replaced with a 5+3+3+4 curricular system in schools that will help the students along with developing the mental faculties of a child. Reforms are also designed for school curricula and pedagogy also.
Interestingly, NEP2020 also has provisions to create Gender Inclusion Fund and Special Education Zones. Prime Minister focused on making education more comprehensive that will benefit the persons with disabilities, taking all to fulfill the target of education. Thanking NEP2020, PM Modi pointed towards the holistic and multi-disciplinary approach in the Higher Education sector along with flexible curricula in UG, innovative mixture of subjects, etc.
