Today, Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra was released from a Mumbai jail after receiving bail from a local court in the city a day earlier. The 46-year-old businessman who was accused of being a key figure in a pornographic film case was arrested two months ago.
Sources said that according to a jail official, Mr. Kundra has been released from the Arthur Road Jail at 11.30 am this morning. After his release, Mr. Raj was noticed in a grey t-shirt encircled by a bunch of reporters following which he left the premises in a red car.
Kundra’s bail application was permitted by Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, SB Bhajipale furnishing an assurance of Rs. 50,000. Ryan Thorpe who was Kundra’s associate and one of the main accused in the pornographic film case has also been granted bail.
After being arrested by the Mumbai police followed by a booking under the Indian Penal Code, Information Technology Act and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act Kundra on last Saturday proceeded with a bail plea in front of the metropolitan magistrate. The bail plea was filed through advocate Prashant Patil.
The accused Raj Kundra claims himself to be innocent referring to the fact that not even a scrap of evidence has been produced to date of his pursuit which would prove that the ‘Hotshots’ app has been a part of the alleged pornographic films hubbub.
According to the probe agency, the ‘Hotshots’ app was being exploited by the accused in order to upload lewd and sexually explicit content.
