- Navjot Singh Sidhu, expressed that “post or no post, will stand by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi”
- He pledged to “uphold the principles of ‘Gandhiji’ and ‘Shastriji’
- Mr Sidhu would continue as the President of the Congress Punjab unit
Navjot Singh Sidhu, whose ostensible flip-flop as Punjab Congress Chief stimulated a fresh turmoil in the everlasting Punjab Congress Crisis, expressed that “post or no post, will stand by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.” He pledged to “uphold the principles of ‘Gandhiji’ and ‘Shastriji’ and specified his commitment in ensuring the Congress win in the coming year’s Assembly election.
Navjot Singh Sidhu tweeted, “Will Uphold principles of Gandhiji and Shastriji… Post or no post will stand by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi! Let all negative forces try to defeat me, but with every ounce of positive energy will make Punjab win Punjabiyat (universal brotherhood) win and every Punjabi win!!”
On Thursday, sources revealed that Mr. Sidhu would continue as the President of the Congress Punjab unit, days after he resigned stating “no compromise” claims. Reportedly, he was vexed by few appointments in the new chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s cabinet, including the appointment of Punjab Police chief and Advocate General.
The abrupt turnaround of the Punjab Congress Chief followed after a late-night conversation between Mr. Channi and Mr. Sidhu. “The Congress leadership understands Navjot Sidhu, and Sidhu is not beyond the Congress leadership. He is not Amarinder Singh, who never cared for the Congress and its leadership.”
The former chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, who resigned from his post stating months-long insult and humiliation, recently announced that he would leave Congress. While commenting on Sidhu’s sudden resignation, he voiced, “He is not a stable man and not fit for the border state of Punjab.”
