Today, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sources said that he can also meet the central leader of the Congress later on the same day.
Channi, the new Chief Minister of Punjab, who has come to office after the harsh departure of Amarinder Singh will probably discuss the decisions of the central to postpone the procurement of paddy for 10 days with the PM. The procurement of paddy was scheduled to begin on Friday.
The meeting will be held at 4 pm. Shortly after taking over the chair, Channi wrote to PM Modi, seeking time for a courtesy call. Earlier he has made several visits to the capital city in order to finalize the names of his cabinet.
The visit of Channi takes place amidst a situation of the immense hubbub, arising from the resignation of Navjot Singh Sidhu as the Pradesh Congress Chief of Punjab. On Thursday, Channi held a meeting with Sidhu, in which the latter has expressed his disappointment over several new faces of the cabinet.
