R-Day Violence: Actor-Activist Deep Sidhu Send To 14-Day Judicial Custody By Delhi Police

Today, an actor-activist Deep Sidhu is sent to 14-day judicial custody by Delhi police in connection with Red Fort violence on R-day. He was alleged for his involvement in the farmers’ protest against the three new contentious farm laws. After an extension of his custodial interrogation earlier on February 16, he was sent to police custody for further probe.

He was accused of instigating the crowd and named as one of the main rioters as many videos suggest him to be present at the scene.  Reportedly, many social media accounts need to be searched to identify the co-conspirators.

Police claimed that he was arrested under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including charges of rioting, attempt to murder, criminal conspiracy, dacoity, culpable homicide. Police claimed that he gave speeches in loud hailers and provoked the crowd due to which several policemen were injured in the violence.

They also noted that Sidhu has registered his permanent address as Nagpur but several places were visited in Punjab and Harayana to surface the truth. Earlier on February 9, he was sent to custody for 7 days for the violence. On the other hand, his lawyers claimed the opposite.
