Today, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at the Centre and demanded it releases the correct figures of Covid-related deaths. He also demanded the government to pay a compensation of Rs. 4 lakh to the families who lost their loved ones due to the pandemic.
Taking to Twitter, Gandhi slammed the Modi-led government. Sharing a video, he attacked the Gujarat model, which the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has projected as the benchmark for other states. He stated that if there exists a government, the suffering of the people should be removed.
Gandhi in his tweet accused that the BJP was not there in the hospital when the people lost their life-saving (Rs. 10-15 lakh). He raised multiple questions against the Opposition. He asked, “You were there to provide compensation. What type of government is this?”
Responding to the tweets, BJP spokesman Tom Vadakkan said the government did everything possible. Vadakkan claimed that since the farm laws have been repealed and the Congress has nothing to protest about, it is taking a fresh jibe at the COVID issues.
Back in September, the Centre had announced Rs. 50,000 compensation for the kin of those who died due to COVID-19. Calling the compensation amount a ‘joke’, Congress insisted the Centre pay a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh.
