Rahul Gandhi tested positive for Covid-19. He experienced mild symptoms prior to being tested. He has urged others who would have come in contact with him in recent days to follow the safety protocols.
“After experiencing mild symptoms, I’ve just tested positive for COVID. All those who’ve been in contact with me recently, please follow all safety protocols and stay safe”, Gandhi said in a tweet.
On April 18, the Lok Sabha member from Kerala’s Wayanad canceled all his election rallies in the state of West Bengal due to the surge in Covid cases. He targeted the other political parties and urged them to think about the consequences of arranging public rallies in these serious pandemic times.
India is witnessing a second wave of Covid infections. A number of other political leaders and personalities have also tested positive for Covid in the last few days including, former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh who is hospitalised also.
Wishes for a speedy recovery poured in from many leaders including, senior leader P. Chidambaram and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
