Today, Rajnath Singh, the Raksha Mantri, addressed the graduates of the 59th National Defence College (NDC) course during their convocation ceremony in New Delhi, and he also awarded M Phil degrees to 41 graduates of the course.

During his address, Rajnath Singh said that the government’s bold approach on several issues such as border disputes, cross-border terrorism has made India stronger, and it has now assumed a greater global role & responsibility. Singh added that India is a peace-loving country, but it will give a befitting reply to anyone who threatens its integrity and sovereignty as threats to internal and external security will no longer be tolerated and India’s actions in Balakot and Galwan are clear indicators.

The Raksha Mantri also said that a key role can be played by NDC in fostering a common understanding among friendly nations against terrorism, and NDC can also help in finding long-term solutions to deal with the menace of terrorism. Singh advised NDC to give more priority to the new and fast-emerging areas such as cyber, space, artificial intelligence and big data analytics.

Furthermore, Rajnath Singh also referred to the phrase ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family) and said that the urgent need is to create a unified approach to deal with threats within the country and globally as well. Singh praised NDC for shaping the thoughts of many leaders and practitioners globally as well and expressed confidence that the graduates of the course would be well-equipped to handle all national security future challenges.
