New Delhi: Former Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Shri Amar Singh passed away at the age of 64 in Singapore where he was admitted in the Mount Elizabeth Hospital. He was in the hospital for the past seven months and undergoing treatment. Earlier in 2013, he had a kidney transplant.

The news comes as a shock because, in earlier today, he took his Twitter account to pay homage to the freedom fighter Lokmanya Gangadhar Tilak on his 100th death anniversary. Today, he also wished everyone for Eid Al Adha. Despite his critical illness, Singh has always been very active on the social media platform.

According to the recent report, he was in the ICU and his family was always at his side. He posted a video on 22nd March on Twitter from the hospital bed where he urged his followers to support and stand by the Indian PM Shri Narendra Modi for winning the battle against COVID-19.

On 2nd March 2020, rumors were there about his death which he discarded through posting a short video message on Twitter. He wrote “Tiger Zinda Hai” in the video to calm down his followers.
