Today, Pawan Khera, a congress spokesperson, said that the issue of the US e-commerce giant is serious, and it requires everyone’s attention. The Congress spokesperson added that the accusations against Amazon are serious and cannot be ignored.
Khera was asked about the comments of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), to which he replied that what the RSS has said about Amazon is irrelevant because there is a duel between the RSS and the BJP.
Furthermore, the Congress leader added that they stand exposed in the farmers’ agitation, and everyone has seen the dubious role played by the RSS as it did not support the farmers even for one day during the last 10 months. Khera also stated that nobody takes what RSS says seriously anymore as what they say reflects the interest of the BJP instead of the national interest.
The remarks came after the RSS weekly “Panchjanya” called Amazon “East India Company 2.0” on Sunday, saying that Amazon paid crores of rupees in bribes for favorable government policies.
The latest edition of the RSS-linked weekly carried a cover story called “East India Company 2.0” which said, Amazon has adopted the same tactics the East India Company used in India during the 18th century. The cover story claimed that the e-commerce platform wants to establish its monopoly in the Indian market, and added that Amazon is taking steps to grab Indian citizens’ economic, political and personal freedoms.
