Suspended police officer, Sachin Vaze in his letter to National Investigation Agency(NIA) accused top ministers namely, Anil Deshmukh and Anil Parab of extortion. In his handwritten letter, he claims that NCP chief Sharad Pawar was against his reinstatement from the department of Mumbai Police in 2020.
The suspended police officer has informed that he met Parab in the months of July -August of 2020, who asked him to extract 50 crores from the Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust(SBUT), which was facing an inquiry.
Vaze claimed that Anil Deshmukh in this context told him that if he can pay Rs 2 crore then he will somehow convince Sharad Pawar to allow him to be back in the force. He also claimed that Maharashtra transport Minister Anil Parab also asked to extort money for him.
Vaze in his letter told NIA, “In July-August 2020, I was called by Minister Anil Parab at his officiaL Bungalow. At the meeting, Parab asked me to look into the complaint under preliminary inquiry and bring the trustees of the SBUT to him for negotiations about the inquiry. He also insisted to initiate primary talks to get Rs50 crore from SBUT in order to close the said inquiry. I have expressed my inability to do any such thing as I don’t know anybody from SBUT and also I did not have any control over the inquiry.”
Sachin Vaze’s letter coincides with the information given by former Police Commissioner, Param Bir Singh in his letter to Chief Minister Uddav Thackeray on March 20.
On the contrary, State Transport Minister, Anil Parab has denied and nullified all the allegations made by Vaze and said that he was not involved in any sort of illegal corrupt activities and this is BJP’s conspiracy to defame and malign the image of the Maharashtra government in order to dissolve us of power. “I am prepared for any inquiry by any agency whether NIA, RAW, or anyone. I am even ready for a narcotics test,” he added.
