Veteran actress Saira Banu made her first public appearance since Dilip Kumar’s death. The veteran actor died on July 7, he was 98. On Thursday Saira was spotted with several people at a construction site.
She was wearing a soft pink salwar kameez, while the dupatta covered her head. She was accompanied by a bunch of people, one of them held a framed picture of Dilip Kumar. While she was returning to her vehicle, Saira was asked to pose with Dilip Kumar’s picture; she complied without any hesitation.
A few weeks ago it was reported that Saira Banu took ill last month. Close relatives believe that the veteran actress is facing difficulty in coping with her husband’s death. She was admitted to Hinduja hospital on 28 August with complaints of breathlessness. She was also diagnosed with other complications such as high blood pressure and high sugar.
“Saira Ji is doing well. She’s discharged and is back home. Resting. Thank you for your prayers,” family friend Faisal Farooqui confirmed to the media. Reports were claiming that Saira Banu was battling depression and was also diagnosed with coronary syndrome. Some reports added that she is not agreeing to a certain angioplasty procedure.
However, her doctor Nitin Gokhale has denied such claims and said that she is not suffering from depression. Adding that she is also not objecting to any procedures.
Saira Banu made her acting debut with the film Junglee, opposite Shammi Kapoor. She was the heroine in several hit projects like Purab Aur Paschim, Ayee Milan Ki Bela, Shagird, and Padosan. She quit films in 1976 and has remained by her husband Dilip Kumar’s side since then.
After Dilip Saab’s demise, Saira Banu received numerous condolences. She revealed that she also received a call from the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well, she thanked him for his phone call through a tweet.
