Today, the Supreme Court dismissed a plea seeking cancellation of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test undergraduate exam (NEET-UG), held on September 12. The plea also requested for fresh exams to be held in view of the question paper leak.

The case was being heard by a bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao and BR Gavai. The petitioner’s counsel stated that FIRs had been filed in different parts of the country over the NEET UG 2021 paper leak, to which Justice Rao asked that how can some FIRs affect an exam that is taken by lakhs of students. Several UG NEET exam aspirants had submitted a writ petition and demanded a re-examination. They were seeking the intervention of the Apex Court.

The SC while declaring its decision has clearly stated that no such plea for a re-exam or anything related, will be entertained. With this decision, the National Testing Agency, NTA is likely to release the NEET 2021 Result date soon along with the Answer Key for the UG NEET exam.
