On Thursday, during a shooting at a public grocery in Florida, 3 people were killed including a child, said, local officials. According to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), at a Royal Palm Beach Publix grocery store, the one suspect opened fire and killed one child and 2 adults, a man and a woman. The suspect was among the fatalities.
According to sources, detectives are determining the cause behind the shooting. A 62-year-old Royal Palm Beach resident, Joey Mendoza said that he had just arrived at the store, and was still in his car in the parking lot when he spotted officers wearing tactical gear hurrying inside.
A spokesperson from the sheriff’s office said, “Our thoughts are with those who are impacted by this tragedy. We are cooperating with the local law enforcement.” Approximately 40 thousand people live in Royal Palm Beach, which is just over 30 miles from Boca Raton and about 50 miles from Fort Lauderdale.
