The officials cited that this year, India had assumed the BRICS Presidency. Reportedly, the main agenda of the meeting was ‘Promoting Social Security Agreements’. This is among the BRICS Nations that include the formalization of labor markets, and participation of women in the labor force.

Commenting on the participation of women in the labor force, the group has decided to promote the participation of women in remunerative, productive, and decent work. “We will extend all the possible social security cover to the women workers engaged in the informal sector,” it cited. They also outlined the impact of COVID-19 on the participation of women.
