Table Tennis player from Tamil Nadu named Vishwa Deenadayalan passed away in a road accident on the way to Shillong from Guwahati for a tournament. The Table Tennis Federation Of India (TTFI) informed that the shocking incident took place on Sunday while the 18-year-old player was traveling by taxi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma expressed pain and grief for this unfortunate incident that left everyone traumatized and shocked. PM Modi penned, “The demise of TT champion Vishwa Deenadayalan is shocking and saddening. He was admired by fellow players and distinguished himself in several competitions. In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with his family and friends. Om Shanti.”

Vishwa was traveling with three of his teammates who were heading for the 83rd Senior National and Inter-State Table Tennis Championships that is supposed to start on Monday. His teammates have undergone severe wounds but doctors informed that they are out of danger and are stable.

As per the authorities, a 12- wheeler trailer hit their taxi at Shangbangla that was approaching from the opposite direction that dived through the road divider. The accident took the life of the taxi driver immediately at the spot whereas Vishwa was declared dead after he was brought to the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences. Meghalaya govt helped the organizers to take the players to the hospital.
