Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress has finally won the election and is leading on 214 seats and has set the bar high once again in the West Bengal 2021 assembly elections. BJP is leading in 76 seats and has won 68 seats so far.
The 2021 WB assembly elections were heavily bipolar. Mamata Bannerjee lost her Nandigram seat unexpectedly to her BJP counterpart Suvendu Adhikary whereas BJP significantly improved its performance as compared to 2016. It had won only 3 seats in the 2016 Assembly elections.
Over the unexpected turns of events at Nandigram, CM Mamata Bannerjee has said that she will be moving to the High Court and Election Commission to demand re-elections.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi has congratulated the CM and Trinamool Congress on their victory ensuring the Centre’s impeccable support. Besides, he has thanked Bengal’s residents for their support and expressed his gratitude towards all those who voted for them.
What began as a throat-cutting competition has now subdued. The trend has been set and TMC once again is ready to form the government. Several ministers including defence minister Rajnath Singh and Delhi CM Arwind Kejriwal have congratulated ‘didi’ over her success.
