India has brought home two medals on Friday in Tokyo Paralympics 2020. 18-year old Praveen Kumar bagged the silver medal in Men’s High Jump T64 classification, having the best jump with 2.07m. And, Avani Lekhara, India’s first female Paralympic gold medalist, has won bronze in the Women’s 50m Rifle Three Positions SH1 classification.

In the neck-to-neck battle between Avani and Ukraine’s Iryna Schetnik, she fetched the medal for India with her last shot. Earlier today, Manoj Sarkar, Tarun Dhillon, Suhas Yathiraj, Pramod Bhagat-Palak Kohli have all made their way into the semifinals in their respective classification. Archer Harvinder Singh has also stepped into the semi-finals today.

Soman Rana has come down to the second position in Men’s Shot Put F57 with 3 throwers left to start in the final against his match with Syria’s Mohamad. Although Soman is in second place now, four more athletes are yet to go and all of them have higher PBs than India.
