From today, for the people aged 70 and above, England will launch the next phase of its vaccination programme and also for extremely clinically vulnerable people as they are the third and fourth priority groups. According to PM Boris Johnson, in the vaccination effort, it is a “significant milestone”.
To receive the shot, from Monday, more than five million people will be invited to have the jab from Monday. Across England, 10 new mass vaccination hubs opened, taking the total in England to 17 and with more to follow. There are also 1,200 hospitals and GP-led sites which are offering vaccinations.
On Sunday, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said that by September, the government focuses to vaccinate all U.K. adults. As per some reports of vaccine tracker, till now, more than 4.3 million people have received their first dose of vaccine against Covid-19.
The travel corridors have been closed now by the UK ministers until at least 15th February to save the UK citizens from “as yet unidentified new strains” of Covid and also to enter Britain, all visitors from foreign will need a Covid negative test result within 72 hours of travel. Also checking will be going on by the health officials to make sure they self-isolate for the next 10 days at home.
The PM said, “We have a long way to go and there will doubtless be challenges ahead — but by working together we are making huge progress in our fight against this virus.
