On Thursday, Trinamool Congress Supremo Mamata Banerjee cancelled all her pre scheduled poll meetings citing order issued by Election Commission. She stated that from now she would “reach out to people” virtually.

Mamata tweeted that in the wake of rise in coronavirus infection across the country and abiding by ECI Order, she has cancelled all her pre scheduled meetings.
She mentioned that she would reach out to the people virtually and the updated schedule of the virtual meetings would be shared soon.
Two days ago, for the first time West Bengal crossed the mark of 10,000 in daily surges and recorded 11,948 cases over the past 24 hours with 56 fatalities.
Calcutta High Court ordered Election Commission to act in the wake of surge in Covid cases and EC noted that many political parties and candidates had failed to adhere to COVID-19 protocol.
