Today, Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal has announced ‘Weekend Curfew’ in the state due to the terrific surge in Covid-19 cases. “Cases are constantly on the rise and we have taken a few decisions. We hope that weekend curfew will break the chain,” he added.
In the press conference, the Chief Minister outlined that ‘Essential Services’ that will be permitted with the issue of ‘Curfew passes to those rendering essential services and marriages’. He added that apart from necessities, all malls, gyms, spas, and restaurants will continue to remain close. “There will be no dine-in option available in the restaurant, however, we have allowed home deliveries,” he added. Kejriwal also mentioned the setting up of special markets with special arrangements.
The Chief Minister further highlighted that the government would implement more laws regarding masks and social distancing. The National Capital is also set to experience night curfew. Adding to it, the Cinema halls have been instructed to operate at 30 percent capacity.
Kejriwal reiterated that there is no shortage of beds in the state. “We have more than 5,000 beds available,” he added. The announcement comes amid as the nation witnesses more than 2 lakh cases in the last 24 hours. The figure recorded turns out to be the highest ever recorded since the outbreak of the global pandemic.
