October 4, is marked as the World Animal Day. It is an international day of action for animal rights and welfare celebrated globally. The main purpose of the celebration is to enhance the status of animals in order to improve the welfare standards around the globe. The day is celebrated in different ways in different countries, irrespective of nationality, religion, faith or political ideology.
The first World Animal Day was celebrated on March 24, 1925. More than 5,000 people had attended the program. Later in 1931, at a congress of the International Animal Protection Congress in Florence Italy, the proposal to make October 4 as ‘World Animal’s Day’ was unanimously accepted. On this day, several international organizations working for the welfare of animals have charity and awareness drives. There are several awareness programs that are conducted to spread awareness of the animal welfare movement.
On this day, we can even see several Bollywood stars celebrating the day. Earlier today, the Bollywood actress, Madhuri Dixit Nene celebrated World Animal Day, by sharing an enchanting clip with her dog on her Instagram profile. In the video, we could see the actress spending some quality time other her dog. All across the social media, Madhuri shared pictures with her little four-legged friend. She further requested the people to give animals love, respect, and affection.
